Our Journey To Success
Customs Northwest was founded with the goal of providing a quality finished product at a competitive price to a discriminating owner wanting an award winning vehicle. Chip Grove was born into a “car” family and was working on cars and motorcycles at a very young age. Realizing he had an aptitude and passion for this work, he graduated from a well-known college majoring in Auto Body Refinishing. Upon graduation he went to work for a GM dealership and was quickly promoted to their head painter. During his 7-year tenure at the dealership he enrolled in continuing education classes sponsored by PPG and DuPont.
While getting great exposure to all types of custom painting situations, Chip recognized that his dream was to have a custom shop of his own. Soon he had built his first shop and was “moonlighting” in it on evenings and weekends. As the business continued to grow, Chip made the decision to leave the dealership and work full time in his own shop. This proved to be the right decision as Customs Northwest has continued to grow and to produce some of the most award winning cars in the Northwest.
Chip has continued to keep the business small in order to keep tight quality control on all projects. Our highly experienced staff is capable of tackling any project you may have.
